Alarming Unit with GSM Communication

The CA-GSM-1 alarming unit is designed to supervise and monitor conditions in livestock interiors and inform the user with GSM
communication system by sending him messages (SMS) or calling (CLIP) indicated phone numbers at abnormal situations (alarm events).
Using the GPRS communication facility one can set remotely the unit operation parameters and logs the operation history.
To the unit some sensors of temperature, humidity and other substances can be connected, for instance sensors of ammonia or carbon dioxide concentration. Readings can be taken remotely (by SMSs), so checking the condition of interoperating devices and control process can be carried on in the same way.

The CA-GSM-1 alarming unit interoperates with SIM card of any operator and this allows to select the best communication conditions and optimum costs.

The unit is equipped with a 230V incorporated buffer power supply pack together with a battery, and this makes possible the unit to operate even at mains failure. The battery charging and check system assures its long-term operation and it sends alarm signals after faults occurrence.

Unit Equipment Components:

  • GSM 900/1800MHz modem enabling operation with any subscription network or with pre-paid card.
  • One 0...10 V input, eight bistable inputs (configuration: 4-NO/NC/EOL/2EOL, 4 NO/NC).
  • Four bistable outputs (one high-current with 1 A electronic protection, the others of OC 100 mA type) one relay output (24 V, 200 mA, contacts NO, NC, CV).
  • Two 0...10 V (5 mA) outputs.
  • A bus for JOTAFAN TEMP-201 digital temperature sensors (with the possibility of connecting up to four sensors).
  • Two RS-485 buses for external devices, e.g. RHT-01 sensor, expansion modules, PC, USB socket fo the connection of PC.
  • A buffer power supplier with the control of operation parameters interoperateing with a 12 V service-fre lead-acid battery, incorporated a 2.3 Ah battery.

Unit Characteristics:

  • Possibility of programming up to eight phone numbers (and an additional service number).
  • Two independent access passwords: for users and maintenance crews.
  • Free determining of both input and output names used in SMS messages (up to 20 characters, no Polish fonts)
  • Free determining of both input and output names used in SMS messages (up to 160 characters, no Polish fonts)
with the possibility of sending current parameters such as temperature, humidity, the status of inputs, outputs,
meters, etc,. of automatically set values, programmable communication test, and unit status.
  • Independently set alarm thresholds for temperature, humidity, and 0...10 V input.
  • The possibility of acquiring information on the account balance of the pre-paid card and setting a reminder of
    its expiration date.
  • Extended self-diagnosis: the check of power supply parameters, GCM modem status, etc.
  • The visual signalling of the unit status: power supply, communication, signal level, alarms.
  • Operation history logging with the possibility of taking readings remotely (GPRS).
  • The remote setting of unit parameters, possible the remote updating of software.

The electronic system of the CA-GSM-1 alarming unit with a safe power supplier and battery is assembled on a metal plate with a plastic enclosure of IP-55 tightness class.
The enclosure has five cable spouts enabling putting easily through cables from peripherals. The spouts are located in the way allowing to install more such spouts.
Screw terminals are easily accessible (what is particularly important when more peripherals are to be connected).
On the unit plate the operation status signalling (LED diodes) and functional push button from the enclosure cover are duplicated. Also installed additional LED diodes and two-digit display extend the possibilities of diagnosis.

CA-GSM-1 Software

Full access to the CA-GSM-1 unit can be attained with the software operating in the Windows environment.
The connection with the unit can be done through the USB or RS-485 (MASTER) interfaces installed on the unit plate.
After a preliminary configuration a GPRS connection can be arranged. The software assures the full ease of the unit configuration, including a wide settings of inputs, outputs, and external sensors as well as operation, communication, and self-diagnosis parameters. Particular attention should be drawn to the possibility of defining
long (160 characters) SMS messages containing information on the current status of the unit and connected sensors (e.g. temperature level). The software also enables the monitoring of current parameters and logging of the operation history from the unit memory by combining single readings in a chronologically arranged whole.
